The 5th round International braille day is celebrated by the Ethiopian National Association of Blind with the financial support of Together for Inclusion (TOFI) project at national level with the participation of TOFI consortium members, OPDs, and government stakeholders.
As a leading organizations, for the organization of people with disabilities in Ethiopia and as one consortium member of the TOFI project ENAB, as like that of the International disability day take the lead in celebrating the international braille day at national level.
The celebration event was opened with the National anthem of Ethiopia by using the wogagen music band members of ENAB, a welcome speech by the general manager and an opening remark of ENAB board Vice president. As the day is more related to people with Visual impairments the majority of the event was conducted by Blind people. Wogagen band members composed of 6(1F) blind members contributed a lot for the color full celebration of the day.
Following the music an invited professional from Addis Ababa university special need and inclusive education department presented his research finding which was related to braille. In his presentation he mentioned the opportunities and challenges related to braille usage.
The event was attended by more than 90(26F) participants from TOFI Consortium members, other non-TOFI DPOs, ENAB staff, and government important stakeholders, to name some of the government major stakeholders the national bank of Ethiopia, plan commission, MoWSA, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of innovation, Culture and sport ministry ethio telecommunication etc.
